In today’s economic climate home owners are finding it makes more sense to simply adapt their current home, as opposed to moving entirely, when their circumstances change. People are now finding it easier to adjust the homes they currently live in through installing products such as stairlifts, rather than moving when they reach an older age and their situations change, such as their mobility declining.
Installing products in the home to aid the ever-changing circumstances we go through in life is one of many steps that can be taken to ensure we maintain our standard of living. The Green Deal Scheme is a government-run scheme in which home owners can get improvements done to their home, without having to immediately pay the costs back. Home improvements that save energy such as a new boiler, double glazing, solar energy and loft insulation are available through the scheme.
The scheme, in which the loan repayments are paid through subsequent energy savings, started in January 2013. The process of the Green Deal is an easy one to follow. The first stage is for the home of the interested party to be assessed. For this, an accredited Green Deal assessor will come round, assess the current state of the property and decide on what can be altered to improve the building’s green efficiency. Once this been completed, a Green Deal report will be draw up and sent to the home owner. This report will advise on which improvements should be looked at.
Once the agreement has taken place and work agreed on, Green Deal endorsed installers will be around to carry out the work required. By only using high quality products, the home owner can be assured that they are getting the best work possible.
